When to start swimming
You don't have to wait to start with baby’s swimming education until over the age of 1. It is a huge misconception that babies won’t learn anything until they are a little older.
Aquatic education is very important in creating an additional barrier towards drowning prevention.
When should you start your baby swimming and why?
Parent and Baby Bonding
The Wagga Swim Hub is a place free of distractions where you can focus purely on your baby. Swimming lessons are a wonderful time for parents and their little ones to spend together one on one. There is lots of skin to skin contact, this is a unique aspect of swimming lessons and can help to foster the bond between baby and parent. Young babies tend to be more relaxed while they are in the water and so the bonding time is easier. Swimming lessons provide an opportunity for caregivers to be a source of comfort for their babies, helping to grow a stronger bond between the two.
There are long term health benefits for your bay too
Swimming lessons help with the development of babies heart, lungs, muscles and can build a stronger immune system and stronger muscles. There is also another amazing benefit of cognitive development, better balance, coordination, reflexes and many more.
Establish Healthy Habits
There are less and less families who lead their children to sport in the 20th century. The obesity rates in Australia are on the rise and it is important to set your baby up with healthy habits early on in life. Swimming is a great way how to introduce healthy sport for your children and it easy to have the whole family involved for their whole life. Swimming is a sport that makes all the muscles in your body work. Exercising also promotes better sleep which is good news for all parents.
Mental development
Bubs who start swimming lessons early can be up to 15 months ahead of their friends in maths, counting and language by the time they start school. Babies learn by repetition and our programs are all structured around this. We include activities to help your baby to mentally develop quicker.
Happy baby = happy parents
Swimming lessons are a great quality time for parents and babies. Swimming lessons make babies happy. And you will be happy too! All our classes are very positive with lots of positive feedback which also helps to build a good self-esteem.
Consistency is the key to successfully learn to swim
Children who start later on average take longer to learn how to swim. Swimming is about consistency, and practicing often is very important. Make a commitment for a few years and stick to your lessons. If you want to see a faster progress try two lessons a week.
